From Key Stage 3, classes are taught by subject specialist teachers. The curriculum is deliberatly kept broad and balanced so that students have a full educational experience. In Years 7 and 8 science is taught as a combined subject but in Year 9 they are taught as three distinct subjects. At this level all students, unless they are in ESL classes, learn Polish as the language of our host country.
Key Stage 4 covers the two years of study for IGCSE or GCSE examinations. (see below). In these years, students undertake more specialised studies in order to prepare themselves fully for the International Baccalaureate Diploma.
Each class in the secondary school has a form teacher for morning and afternoon registration and general pastoral care.
The following subjects are offered in Key Stages 3 and 4:
- English Language
- English Literature
- Mathematics
- Sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Physics)
- Information Communication Technology

- English as a Second Language

All subjects (except Drama and Physical Education) are available for examination at the end of Year 11.
BISC is accredited by two English examining boards: CIE (Cambridge University International Examinations) and AQA (Assessment and Qualifications Alliance). This enables students to sit IGCSE (International General Certificate in Secondary Education) and GCSE (General Certificate in Secondary Education) public examinations on the school's premises. Before the introduction of the International Baccalaureate Diploma in our school in 2006, students took AS and A level examinations through these same Boards. BISC is also registered with the Polish Ministry of Education as a Gimnazyum, so can provide the necessary certification for pupils registered in the Polish programme.
Over the last few years, our public examination results have been excellent. On average, 85% of our students have obtained the top three grades in their IGCSE, AS and A level examinations. BISC school leavers have been placed at excellent institutions of higher education such as Cambridge University, the University of Surrey, the Universities of Dundee, Glasgow and Edingburgh, Amherst University Boston, Yokohama University, and the Jagiellonian University.
